Oncology-focused social media platform Belong.Life has partnered with AI-driven patient engagement company Equiva to integrate Belong’s conversational AI tools into Equiva’s digital health platform. This integration brings Belong’s AI health mentors—Dave, focused on cancer care, and Fred, designed for sustainable weight loss and overall wellness—into Equiva’s in-hospital and home-based systems, offering patients and caregivers intelligent, empathetic support via tablets or smartphones.
The AI companions will assist users in real time with tasks such as preparing for doctor visits, translating medical documents, navigating discharge instructions, accessing provider questions, and receiving tailored emotional and behavioral coaching. Eliran Malki, CEO of Belong.Life, emphasized that integrating Dave and Fred into Equiva’s platform delivers meaningful support exactly when and where patients need it, aligning with the company’s goal of humanizing digital healthcare and improving the connection between patients and care teams.
Equiva CEO Nir Altman added that the partnership is not just about deploying advanced technology, but about improving access and outcomes by embedding AI into patients’ daily interactions to educate, empower, and engage them more effectively.
This collaboration builds on broader efforts by both companies. In 2022, Belong.Life launched a dedicated online community for chronic myeloid leukemia patients through its Belong-Beating Cancer Together app, offering support groups, condition-specific resources, clinical trial matching, and symptom tracking. In 2023, Equiva Health partnered with Gilda’s Club Twin Cities, part of the national Cancer Support Community (CSC) network, to distribute at-home devices through a federally funded broadband initiative aimed at addressing health disparities in oncology care.
That same year, Equiva expanded its CSC collaboration, adding partner sites in Arizona, Kentucky, and California to an initiative supporting psychosocial oncology services for underserved populations. Equiva also launched Peri-Op Connect, a platform designed to enhance surgical care by broadening access to educational and support tools for patients and caregivers.
