First home testing diagnostic service to fully integrate with NHS app

A new private at-home diagnostic service, developed by UK digital diagnostics company PocDoc, has become the first to integrate with the NHS app, offering heart check results in just 9 minutes. This integration aims to drastically reduce wait times and save billions for the NHS by making screenings for cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal diseases more accessible.

The service, called the "Healthy Heart Check," allows patients to use a home kit combined with the PocDoc app to perform a full cholesterol panel test and receive data on heart age, 10-year risk of heart attack or stroke, and BMI score. Test results can be directly uploaded to the NHS app, where they are reflected on patient records almost instantly. This is a significant improvement over the current process, which can take weeks.

The service is currently available in various regions across the UK and has proven effective in reaching at-risk groups, such as those over 40, the overweight, and people with limited access to GPs. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with 97% of users recommending the service.

The initiative is expected to save the NHS £27 billion over the next decade and could help prevent up to 1 million heart attacks and strokes annually. PocDoc's technology is available for free in regions where they have partnered with the NHS and is accessible through pharmacies and online platforms. As PocDoc prepares for further expansion, it has been recognized as a rapidly growing diagnostics startup with significant global market potential.
