H1 Acquires Defacto Health to Expand Provider Network Intelligence

New York-based healthcare data company H1 has acquired Defacto Health, a provider network data specialist, as it continues to expand the data foundation supporting its healthcare provider intelligence platform.

Founded in 2017, H1 operates an AI-powered platform designed to identify and match physicians across areas including clinical trials, commercialization, patient care, medical affairs and referrals. Its customers and users span health plans, hospitals and health systems, digital health companies, life sciences organizations, government agencies, employers and patients.

Defacto Health specializes in healthcare provider network data, with a particular focus on identifying which providers participate in specific health insurance plans. The company aggregates and organizes information from payer provider directories, APIs and other sources to create connections between payers, insurance plans, physicians, other healthcare providers and provider organizations.

H1 said integrating its longtime data partner will broaden its existing data capabilities and provide a more connected view of relationships across the healthcare ecosystem. Defacto Health will become part of H1, while cofounders Ron Urwongse and Tarun J. Theogaraj will join the H1 team.

"We have worked with Defacto and know firsthand the value of its data and the expertise of its team. Bringing Defacto into H1 continues to strengthen the data foundation behind our platform and helps us continue to provide health plans and their industry partners with the tools and intelligence they need to understand their networks, identify inaccuracies and make better-informed decisions," Ariel Katz, cofounder and CEO of H1, said in a statement.

The transaction represents H1’s third acquisition in less than two years. In January 2025, the company acquired Ribbon Health, a healthcare data platform providing provider directory and care navigation tools. Five months later, H1 acquired Veda Data Solutions, an AI-based provider data management company serving healthcare payers and providers.

H1 has also continued to raise capital alongside its acquisition activity. The company secured a $40 million investment earlier in 2026. In 2022, it extended its Series C financing to $123 million, resulting in a reported valuation of $773 million, following its initial $100 million Series C announcement in 2021.
