HealthJoy, Cost Plus Drugs Partner To Reduce Drug Costs for Employers

HealthJoy has partnered with Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to help employees access more affordable generic drugs. With rising healthcare costs, especially in pharmacy expenses, HealthJoy’s care navigation platform will now direct employees to Cost Plus Drugs when it offers a cheaper option. Cost Plus Drugs bypasses pharmacy benefit managers, negotiating directly with manufacturers and providing transparent pricing with a 15% markup for operations and shipping.

HealthJoy’s president, Doug Morse-Schindler, explained that employees often seek lower-cost drug options, and the HealthJoy team now works closely with Cost Plus Drugs to guide employees to savings when suitable.

“Members are truly coming to us and saying, ‘Hey, I’ve been on this medication for a while and I’d like to find a lower cost alternative.’ Or, ‘I was just prescribed this. What’s the best and most cost-effective way for me to get it?’ Our team is basically integrated with the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs team so that we’re steering [employees] over to them when it makes sense,” commented Doug Morse-Schindler, president and co-founder of HealthJoy, at the HLTH conference last week.
