Highmark Health, a prominent healthcare organisation in the United States, has entered into a partnership with Google Cloud to develop generative AI solutions. Highmark serves millions of Americans across all 50 states and employs around 35,000 people. The organisation is committed to optimising its care delivery to enhance both physician and patient experiences.
The collaboration with Google Cloud aims to enhance Highmark's clinical and technological capabilities, leveraging Google Cloud's success in the generative AI field. Richard Clarke, Chief Analytics Officer at Highmark Health, envisions numerous possibilities with this partnership. He emphasises the importance of redesigning the healthcare system with a focus on the needs of members and clinicians, aiming to create more seamless, personalised, and proactive experiences for better outcomes and affordability.
Clarke also discussed Highmark's foray into generative AI, starting with test cases using publicly available data, particularly in personalising member materials within the health system. Generative AI can address content generation and curation challenges at scale.
Additionally, it can make provider information more searchable and interactive, ultimately improving care for Highmark's members.
