Hilo Launches Blood Pressure Monitoring System in the U.S.

Hilo has launched its Hilo Core blood pressure monitoring system in the United States, expanding access to a wearable solution designed for continuous, long-term blood pressure tracking. Developed by Aktiia, the system aims to provide a more comprehensive picture of cardiovascular health by combining traditional cuff-based measurements with ongoing wearable monitoring. The product is also eligible for purchase using Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), making it more accessible to U.S. consumers.

Hilo Core combines a wrist-worn device, a mobile app and an FDA-cleared connected blood pressure cuff to collect and validate up to 35 blood pressure readings per day, including measurements taken overnight. Rather than relying solely on occasional cuff readings, the system is designed to monitor blood pressure trends continuously, helping users and healthcare providers better understand changes over time. The platform also integrates additional health metrics such as heart rate, sleep and daily activity levels to provide broader context around blood pressure fluctuations.

The wearable is powered by Hilo's optical blood pressure monitoring technology, which uses photoplethysmography (PPG) signals captured from the wrist to estimate blood pressure without requiring repeated cuff inflation throughout the day. The company says this approach makes long-term monitoring more convenient while generating richer datasets that can support earlier detection of changes and more informed treatment decisions for people living with hypertension.

Although Hilo Core is currently marketed as a wellness product, the company plans to continue pursuing regulatory development for its technology. The U.S. launch follows Hilo's recent $19 million Series B extension, which increased the company's total funding to more than $119 million. The investment is expected to support further development of its optical blood pressure monitoring platform and expand adoption of continuous cardiovascular monitoring technologies.
