iRhythm and Epic integrate to streamline access to cardiac monitoring services

iRhythm Technologies has entered into a collaboration with Epic, a prominent electronic health record (EHR) platform, to facilitate access to its Zio long-term cardiac monitoring services. The partnership utilises Epic's Aura platform, designed for managing specialty diagnostics and devices, and is expected to expedite the integration of Zio services into existing Epic systems by 75% compared to traditional methods. The collaboration aims to streamline workflows for clinicians, resulting in improved efficiency in cardiac arrhythmia detection and management.

This strategic partnership is anticipated to bring about several benefits for healthcare organisations, including enhanced workflow, cost savings, and increased accessibility to Zio services for a broader spectrum of healthcare providers. The integration is estimated to potentially save hundreds of thousands of hours and millions of dollars in staff time that were previously required for integration. Zio services, which have already demonstrated success with over 1.5 million registrations through EHR-integrated systems, will now be more readily available to over 250 million patients in the US through the Epic collaboration.

iRhythm's collaboration with Epic is aligned with its objective to optimise clinician workflow efficiencies and provide seamless access to Zio services. By integrating these services into EHR platforms, the partnership seeks to simplify operations, empower health system customers to focus more on patient care, and ultimately enhance the overall patient health experience. The integration process is set to commence with select early adoption customers by Q4 2024, with widespread availability for existing and new Zio customers expected in early 2025.
