Hybrid primary and metabolic care provider Knownwell has completed an oversubscribed $25 million funding round, bringing its total capital raised to more than $50 million. The round was led by CVS Health Ventures, with participation from MassMutual Catalyst Fund and Intermountain Ventures, as well as continued support from existing investors a16z Bio + Health and Flare Capital Partners.
As part of the announcement, Oak Street Health cofounder Geoff Price joined Knownwell as an investor and independent board member.
Knownwell positions itself as a hybrid, weight-inclusive provider offering a combination of primary care, metabolic health services, nutrition counseling, and health coaching. The newly raised funds will be used to enhance patient outcomes, expand clinical operations, and manage costs effectively.
Brooke Boyarsky Pratt, CEO and cofounder of Knownwell, said the company’s mission is deeply personal. “As someone who grew up with obesity, knownwell’s mission is deeply personal,” she said. “This funding from industry leaders across healthcare is a testament to the health outcomes our expert clinician-led care model, combined with an empathic approach and evidence-based practice, has generated. This funding will help us continue on our journey to becoming the healthcare home for patients with overweight or obesity.”
Knownwell has been steadily expanding its presence across the U.S. In September, it opened its first clinic in the metro Atlanta region, marking its seventh new site within a year and bringing its total number of clinics to 10 nationwide, alongside virtual care services. Earlier in August, the company launched its second Boston-area clinic, following the debut of its flagship location in 2023.
In April, Knownwell was listed as a care provider on Eli Lilly’s digital health platform, LillyDirect, expanding its reach to patients seeking metabolic healthcare. Earlier in February, the company entered the Chicago market with six clinics, hiring 23 regional employees and appointing Dr. Anthony Auriemma, formerly of Ascension Medical Group Illinois, as market medical director and vice president of clinical partnerships.
