LeanTaaS has acquired LookDeep Health to integrate ambient intelligence and computer vision technology into its iQueue platform, expanding its capabilities beyond hospital capacity management into virtual patient monitoring and care coordination. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition follows LeanTaaS' recent purchase of care transition platform Aidin and supports its strategy to develop an integrated hospital operations system. The company currently serves nearly 200 health systems across more than 1,200 hospitals, centers, and clinics in the United States.
Through the acquisition, LeanTaaS plans to introduce iQueue for Virtual Care, using AI-powered monitoring to identify patient movements, potential falls, and environmental changes. The technology will convert these observations into prioritized tasks, enabling virtual observation teams to assess situations, communicate remotely with patients, or escalate concerns to bedside clinicians.
The platform will offer three services: virtual observation for patient monitoring, virtual nursing for admissions and discharge preparation, and virtual medicine connecting patients with remote physicians and specialists.
LookDeep contributes computer vision technology, an open architecture compatible with existing hospital cameras and devices, and experience implementing virtual care solutions.
Narinder Singh, LookDeep's former CEO and co-founder, has joined LeanTaaS as senior vice president of ambient intelligence.
"Nurses and physicians cannot be in every room at every moment, and too often technology has added to their work instead of taking it away. Ambient intelligence keeps watch when they can't be there, so staff finally feel the technology works for them, not the other way around," Singh said.
According to the companies, previous deployments have demonstrated reductions exceeding 70% in patient falls, an 80% decrease in medication errors, and threefold cost savings compared with traditional virtual sitting solutions.
LeanTaaS intends to extend ambient intelligence across its existing iQueue portfolio, initially targeting inpatient flow and operating rooms before expanding into infusion centers and other hospital settings.
The broader strategy involves combining electronic health record data, clinical AI, and environmental monitoring to support operational decisions while maintaining clinician oversight.
The integration aims to improve hospital workflows by identifying relevant patient signals and coordinating timely responses across care teams.
