LunaJoy, Ollie Hinkle partner on holistic mental health services for heart patients

The Ollie Hinkle Heart Foundation (OHHF), a prominent non-profit supporting families with childhood-onset heart conditions, has partnered with LunaJoy Health, a women’s mental health company. This collaboration aims to provide specialized trauma-informed mental health support to families nationwide, addressing the needs of the approximately 40,000 babies born annually with heart defects. The partnership will enhance access to mental health care, offering consultative services, education, and crisis resources.

The collaboration focuses on three key areas: enhanced accessibility, specialized trauma-informed care, and community outreach and education. Enhanced accessibility ensures that mental health resources are available whenever and wherever needed. Specialized care programs will combine LunaJoy Health’s technology with OHHF’s experience, providing mental health screenings, individualized therapy sessions, and wellness checks. Community outreach will involve educational campaigns, peer support groups, and localized events to reduce stigma and promote open conversations about mental health within affected families.

This initiative addresses the significant mental health challenges faced by families dealing with congenital heart disease (CHD), which often lead to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and ADHD due to frequent hospital visits and serious medical procedures. By utilizing LunaJoy Health’s technology, the partnership aims to reduce risks and inform treatment plans, with LunaCare as the foundation for OHHF’s mental health program. Co-founder Jenn Hinkle emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed care and the role of technology in managing the evolving mental health needs of these families, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to providing barrier-free access to essential support and advocacy.
