Tech giant, Samsung Electronics, has announced the latest One UI 5 Watch with a new feature that supports sleep quality, which will be available as part of the Samsung Watch later this year.
The latest software on the Galaxy Watch focuses on three key elements for better sleep. Sleep Insights UI displays the user's sleep score to provide a clearer overview of the prior night’s rest, as well as related metrics, including sleep phases, snoring hours, and blood oxygen levels.
In addition, Sleep Coaching helps users track their sleep habits, tailored around eight different sleep types by utilising week-long sleep data and a survey to generate insights.
Finally, SmartThings allows the user to switch off their connected devices once the Galaxy Watch detects that they have fallen asleep, while Sleep Mode mutes notifications, dims the user's phone and watch screens. One UI 5 Watch builds on these features by utilising an infrared sensor rather than a green LED light to further minimise distractions.
As well as these features, Samsung has also released a personalised heart rate zone, to analyse users physical capabilities and set optimal workout intensity level, updates to SOS to enable direct communications to an emergency telephone number, and falls detection features.
According to a press statement, One UI 5 Watch will be available for release later this year.
