Omada Health, a leading virtual healthcare provider specialising in chronic conditions, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first virtual provider of musculoskeletal (MSK) care to receive the prestigious URAC telehealth accreditation. The Omada for MSK program aims to enhance timely access to top-notch MSK care. In the United States, MSK conditions affect over half of adults and incur healthcare costs exceeding $380 billion, surpassing even diabetes, heart disease, or other chronic conditions. Earning the Telehealth Accreditation signifies that Omada Health upholds the high clinical standards set by URAC, according to Dr. Carolyn Jasik, Chief Medical Officer at Omada Health.
URAC, renowned for promoting healthcare quality by establishing rigorous standards in clinical practice, consumer protections, performance measurement, operations infrastructure, and risk management, has acknowledged Omada Health's excellence at the intersection of clinical best practices and technological safety and security.
Unlike competing digital MSK care products labelled as "preventive" or "consumer wellness programs" with limited direct patient to physical therapist care, Omada for MSK offers comprehensive tele-physical therapy facilitated by licensed physical therapists. Members can expect to have telehealth visits with licensed physical therapists within two days of signing up.
Furthermore, Omada for MSK, like Omada's other programs, incorporates proactive behavioural health support. By collaborating with behavioural health specialists, licensed physical therapists address behavioural health comorbidities that significantly impact individuals dealing with MSK disorders. Combining these services can lead to cost savings of $460 per member per month.
As a trailblazer in the digital health provider industry, Omada continues to uphold high clinical standards, safety, and accountability. Obtaining accreditations like URAC's Telehealth accreditation aligns with the American Physical Therapy Association's commitment to promoting digital health transparency.
Following the URAC accreditation, Omada adds to its collection of nationally recognized accreditations and certifications across various healthcare services. In 2021, Omada was the first fully-virtual healthcare provider to receive the National Committee for Quality Assurance's (NCQA) Population Health Program (PHP) Accreditation. This year, Omada's Diabetes and Diabetes+Hypertension programs earned renewed NCQA accreditation through 2026, the longest possible accreditation period. With URAC accreditation, Omada now holds clinical accreditation across conditions with significant connections, given that 58% of people with diabetes also experience MSK disorders.
