Owlet Introduces Data-Driven Subscription Service for Enhanced Infant Monitoring

Owlet, a leader in baby monitoring technology, has launched Owlet360, a new subscription service that aims to provide caregivers with detailed insights into their infant's health and development. The service, priced at $5.99 monthly with a seven-day free trial, builds upon the company's existing monitoring capabilities while introducing new analytical features.

The platform leverages Owlet's pediatric health dataset to deliver comparative analysis of infant health metrics, including sleep patterns, oxygen levels, movement, comfort temperature, and pulse rate. Users can access room environment data, such as temperature and humidity trends, and share video clips of their babies. Notably, the company maintains free access to essential features like live vital monitoring and real-time alerts for all users.

Kurt Workman, Owlet cofounder and CEO, emphasized the significance of the launch: "We believe the launch of Owlet360 marks a transformative moment not just for Owlet, but for the entire industry. Owlet360 is the next evolution of our connected ecosystem, leveraging our large pediatric health dataset to deliver personalized, proactive care. This is more than a subscription; it's a new standard in parenting support."

The service builds upon Owlet's existing product portfolio, which includes the FDA-cleared Dream Sock and BabySat devices. The Dream Sock, which also received CE Mark certification last year, monitors infants aged 0-18 months weighing 6-30 pounds, tracking heart rate, oxygen saturation, and sleep states. BabySat employs pulse-oximetry technology to monitor vital signs and alert caregivers when readings fall outside prescribed ranges.

The company, which went public through a SPAC merger in 2021, has recently strengthened its financial position through private placement financing, raising $30 million in 2023 and an additional $9 million in 2024. After addressing NYSE compliance concerns regarding market capitalization and stockholder equity requirements, Owlet confirmed its return to good standing with the exchange in October 2024. The service is currently available to U.S. customers, with international expansion planned for later this year.
