Reimagine Care Partners with MedStar Health to Extend Cancer Care Services to Patients' Homes

Reimagine Care, a home-focused cancer care platform, has announced a strategic partnership with MedStar Health to integrate its on-demand oncology care services into the health system's existing cancer care delivery model. This collaboration will help patients transition smoothly between clinical settings and home-based care. The patient-centered approach from Reimagine Care delivers customized, comprehensive care to patients in their homes through a combination of advanced technology, data-driven insights, and support from multidisciplinary care teams. For MedStar Health, which serves the Washington, D.C. region, this partnership represents a significant expansion of cancer services beyond traditional clinical settings, adding enhanced symptom management capabilities, remote patient monitoring, and additional supportive care resources.

"We believe the future of cancer care will be defined by how well we meet patients where they are, physically, emotionally, and clinically," Dan Nardi, CEO of Reimagine Care, told MobiHealthNews. "This partnership with MedStar Health is a powerful step toward that future. It reflects what's possible when two organizations come together with a shared belief that cancer care can be more human, more connected, and more aligned with the lives people want to lead, not just the treatments they need to receive." Nardi added: "Just as importantly, it's about supporting the oncologists and care teams who are being asked to do more than ever. They deserve solutions that expand their reach without adding to their burden."

The collaboration aligns with broader healthcare trends, including the growing emphasis on home-based care and technology-enabled service delivery. In MobiHealthNews' 2024 year-in-review series, Nardi predicted continued growth for AI in healthcare, noting that many organizations have moved beyond initial testing phases toward wider implementation. "In 2024, it seemed like many organizations were doing small initial phases to test the efficacy of various AI tools. Going forward, AI will become more widely used in all facets of healthcare, including day-to-day patient engagement and management, further automating processes that historically have been done manually," Nardi said.

This partnership builds on Reimagine Care's collaborative approach with healthcare providers. In 2023, the company secured $25 million in Series A funding led by Santé Ventures, Martin Ventures, and LRVHealth, with participation from CU Healthcare Innovation Fund, City of Hope, McKesson Ventures, and Sable Investments. That same year, Reimagine Care began working with in-home care provider DispatchHealth to offer virtual-to-home care for oncology patients. In a similar arrangement last year, Reimagine Care partnered with Houston-based Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center to deliver virtual and in-home care to cancer patients, providing 24/7 access to oncology specialists via multiple communication channels, including SMS text, video consultations, and phone support.

Interestingly, MedStar Health also established a partnership with DispatchHealth in 2024 to provide acute care services to recently discharged patients in Washington, D.C., focusing on reducing hospital readmissions through targeted home-based interventions.
