RWJBarnabas Health to anchor $450M digital innovation 'city'

RWJBarnabas Health is set to play a pivotal role as the lead hospital partner in SciTech Scity, a groundbreaking $450 million digital innovation hub spanning 30 acres in Jersey City. The project, spearheaded by the Liberty Science Center, is a cross-industry collaboration with a mission to enhance healthcare equity through digital initiatives. The overarching objective is to shift from a traditional "sick-care" system to one that identifies illnesses in their early stages or prevents them altogether, utilising cost-effective digital home health technology. Paul Hoffman, President and CEO of Liberty Science Center, highlighted the urgent need for this transformation in the current societal landscape.

A diverse array of partners, including Sheba Medical Center from Israel, Bristol Myers Squibb, Ernst & Young, Nokia Bell Labs, and academic institutions such as Princeton University and New York University, joins RWJBarnabas Health in this venture. The collective aim is to pilot digital health startups and technologies in a densely populated region of New Jersey, fostering innovation and scientific advancement. With Jersey City Medical Center in Hackensack situated nearby, Michael Prilutsky, Executive Vice President for RWJBarnabas Health, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration's potential to advance health equity and contribute to the improvement of community health.
