Sage and ALIS Launch Integrated Tasking Solution to Streamline Senior Living Care Workflows

Sage has introduced Tasking, a new solution designed to unify planned and unplanned care workflows for senior living and skilled nursing environments through integration with the ALIS electronic health record (EHR) system. The platform establishes a bi-directional data exchange, ensuring that care plans documented in the EHR and real-time frontline care activities remain continuously synchronized.

The solution addresses a longstanding “fragmentation gap” in care delivery, where structured care plans reside in EHRs while day-to-day caregiving tasks and alerts are often managed separately or go undocumented. By consolidating these elements into a single mobile workflow, Tasking enables caregivers to access assigned tasks instantly while documenting unplanned care directly at the point of delivery.

Ellen Johnston, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Sage, highlighted the focus on usability, noting that the goal is to make it as easy as possible for caregivers to document care “in the moment.” This approach is intended to reduce reliance on end-of-shift administrative work, a major contributor to caregiver burnout.

The platform’s adoption builds on Sage’s reported 90% engagement rate among care teams, reflecting reliance on its tools for daily operations. With Tasking, caregivers can manage workloads more predictably, while residents may benefit from more consistent and attentive care as staff spend less time on retrospective documentation.

From an operational perspective, Tasking introduces enhanced visibility into care delivery by capturing both scheduled and unscheduled interactions. This comprehensive dataset supports Level of Care (LOC) recommendations and staffing insights, enabling operators to better align resources with real-time resident needs and ensure appropriate reimbursement.

Early performance indicators from Sage-powered communities suggest measurable impact, including a $275 increase in net operating income per resident per month and a 50% reduction in falls compared to industry averages. These outcomes underscore the potential of integrated workflows to influence both financial performance and patient safety.

The launch follows Sage’s recent $65 million Series C funding round led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, supporting continued development of predictive, AI-driven capabilities. By combining real-time data capture with analytics, the company aims to shift senior care from reactive processes toward proactive, prevention-focused models, while addressing persistent challenges related to documentation gaps and workforce strain.
