Suki has launched Suki Dictation, an AI-powered clinical documentation solution designed to give healthcare organizations an alternative to enterprise-wide software bundles. The product can be deployed independently or alongside Suki’s ambient clinical documentation capabilities and is available natively within Epic and MEDITECH.
The offering is intended to accommodate different documentation requirements across specialties and individual clinicians. While ambient technology can automatically generate notes from clinical conversations, verbatim dictation provides greater control when clinicians need to capture specific details, instructions or coding information.
Suki identifies surgery, emergency medicine, critical care and procedural medicine as areas where precise dictation can be particularly relevant. Research cited by the company found that inadequate operative reports can result in incorrect coding in up to 28% of cases, with potential reimbursement losses averaging $18,200.
“Using the AI Suki Dictation Program has become an important part of my documentation workflow because it gives me flexibility. Suki helps generate my notes automatically, which allows me more time during the office visit to focus on the patient,” said Edward P. Mintz, MD, pulmonary and critical care physician at Witham Medical Group.
Suki Dictation is available as a standalone replacement for existing dictation tools or alongside Suki’s ambient documentation platform. The company is also making the capability available through APIs and SDKs, enabling healthcare technology companies to incorporate AI dictation into their own products without developing speech recognition infrastructure independently.
Suki said future development could include streaming speech recognition, conversational voice editing, AI-assisted procedure note generation, intelligent voice commands and interactive clinical assistance. These capabilities are intended to support clinicians in retrieving information and completing documentation within the electronic health record.
“Healthcare has accepted a false choice for too long: either buy massive documentation licenses or give up modern AI dictation,” said Abhi Pathak, Chief Product Officer at Suki. “That shouldn't be how software works.”
The launch expands Suki’s clinical documentation portfolio while allowing health systems to purchase dictation, ambient documentation or both according to their workflow and deployment requirements.
