Surgical collaboration app Chiefy raises $4.2M

Chiefy, a surgical collaboration app has announced it has raised $4.2M in seed funding, led by LionBird, and included Nina Capital and Emerge Ventures.

The U.S-based startup provides a cloud-based collaboration platform with chat and communication functions. The platform allows members of surgical teams to have virtual preoperative briefings rather than relying on in-person meetings, text messages, emails, or phone calls.

"Chiefy is built to challenge the idea that if hospitals want high quality, they need to be slower, or clinicians need to suffer. We believe that quality, efficiency, and clinician experience can be a win-win-win. This requires building a culture of trust, and our technology serves as an enabler for building this culture."

As a cloud-based SaaS platform, Chiefy is a low cost and low risk option for hospitals and health systems to implement a collaboration platform, with the aim of engaging clinicians and improving quality of care for patients. The platform is HIPAA compliant and does not require integration into electronic medical records.

Chiefy plans to use the seed funding to accelerate and expand product development and customer acquisition.
