The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) in the US and the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) of Taiwan have entered into an agreement aimed at promoting digital transformation in various healthcare aspects.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by HIMSS President & CEO Hal Wolf and NHIA Director General Chung-Liang Shih in Taipei City, Taiwan. The collaboration focuses on advancing population health, digital capacity building, cybersecurity resilience, and workforce development.
The joint effort between HIMSS and NHIA seeks to transition Taiwan's healthcare system from its current traditional disease management model to a more modern, post-pandemic health system. The initiative will establish a digital health ecosystem using evidence-driven approaches based on HIMSS digital capacity and maturity frameworks.
This approach aims to provide a quantified understanding of the current state and priorities at various levels, refining strategies to maximise population health outcomes. Additionally, the collaboration will enhance Taiwan's cybersecurity resilience with the assistance of HIMSS subject matter experts, thought leadership, and advice.
The partnership will also focus on building digital health workforce capacity through curated courses, professional certifications, and accredited continuing education, facilitated by world-class healthcare professionals.
