Teladoc and Brightline Expand Youth Mental Health Services

Teladoc, a leading virtual care company, has partnered with Brightline, a pediatric virtual behavioral health provider, to expand mental healthcare services for children, adolescents, and their families. This collaboration aims to offer accessible coaching and therapy services through Teladoc's platform, catering to a wide range of mental health conditions for individuals under 18 and their caregivers. Brightline works with employers and major insurers, ensuring that mental health support is available to those who need it.

This partnership allows Teladoc to extend its services, which previously catered to individuals aged 13 and older, to include children from infancy through age 13. This move addresses the growing demand from health plans and employers for comprehensive mental healthcare solutions for younger individuals. Dr. Vidya Raman-Tangella, Teladoc’s Chief Medical Officer, highlighted the increasing prevalence of mental health issues among youth, noting a significant rise in conditions that were less common five to ten years ago.

Almost 20% of U.S. children and young people aged three to 17 have some form of mental or developmental disorder. The partnership aims to streamline access to mental health services, providing a single, guided point of entry for families. Dr. Raman-Tangella emphasized the importance of caring for the whole family, recognizing the stress that caregivers often experience. The new youth mental health services will initially be available to select clients in 2024, with a broader public launch expected in 2025, enhancing the continuity of care for families and supporting the diverse needs of young patients.
