Veradigm Launches AI Scribe for Small and Independent Practices

Veradigm has introduced an ambient AI scribe powered by AvodahMed to help practitioners save time on patient encounter notes and reduce provider burnout. Formerly known as Allscripts, Veradigm aims to support independent, small, and midsized practices with a more personalized electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system. Ian Maurer, Veradigm's vice president of technology, explained that the company chose AvodahMed for its accuracy, usability, and seamless integration into their platform.

Maurer emphasized that while many AI scribes save clinicians a little time, Veradigm wanted a solution that could deeply integrate into their system to maximize productivity. During pilot testing in September and October, the AI scribe saved an average of 7 to 10 minutes per encounter. Unlike less integrated solutions, Veradigm's AI scribe generates notes directly in the EHR, populating discrete patient data like vital signs without requiring clinicians to leave the system or manually copy and paste information.

Veradigm also added an ROI calculator for customers to assess the value of integrating the AI scribe with their existing products. Veradigm’s EHR platforms, primarily used by small, independent healthcare organizations, provide flexibility and customization compared to larger, closed EHR systems, helping these practices maintain their independence. In addition to EHR solutions, Veradigm offers practice management and payer clearinghouse tools.
