Walmart Health signs care coordination agreements with Florida health system, insurer

Walmart Health, Walmart's healthcare division, has entered into coordinated care agreements with Ambetter from Sunshine Health and Orlando Health in Florida. Walmart Health centres offer a wide range of healthcare services, including primary care, dental, and behavioural health, and are open seven days a week, with telehealth options available.

Through its partnership with Ambetter Health, Floridian members of the Ambetter Value Plan in specific counties can access care coordination and referral management services through Walmart Health centres. This agreement is significant as Ambetter Health is a major healthcare program provided by Centene Corporation.

Walmart Health is also collaborating with Orlando Health to improve care coordination services and communication between its centres and Orlando Health providers, enhancing the patient experience. This marks Walmart's first patient care coordination agreement with a healthcare system.

Walmart Health has been expanding its presence, with 23 health centres in Florida and plans to have over 75 centres nationwide by the end of 2024. Additionally, Walmart acquired telehealth company MeMD in 2021, rebranding it as Walmart Health Virtual Care in 2022. The company also announced a 10-year partnership with UnitedHealthcare to enhance value-based care for seniors and Medicare beneficiaries. These moves underscore Walmart's commitment to accessible and integrated healthcare services.
