Wellsheet Unveils AI Copilot to Cut Charting Time and Streamline Workflows

Wellsheet, a leader in AI-driven clinical workflows and operations, has launched its new Care Team Copilot, an AI-powered solution designed for inpatient care teams. Unlike AI scribes that simply transcribe conversations, Wellsheet’s Copilot reads the entire patient chart in real time and generates documentation based on comprehensive clinical data, supporting physicians, nurses, and case managers with chart summarization, multidisciplinary rounding, discharge planning, and AI-generated documentation—all in a seamless, intuitive experience.

Embedded within all major Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Wellsheet’s interface complements native EHR functionality and integrates smoothly into existing workflows. Its EHR-agnostic technology stack enables health system IT teams to deploy it quickly across enterprises, enhancing efficiency and outcomes at scale.

Physicians currently spend nearly 58% of their time in EHRs, and care teams average over 400 minutes from order to discharge—more than triple health systems’ target times. With a projected shortage of over 100,000 healthcare workers in the U.S. by 2028, streamlining workflows has become critical. Wellsheet’s Care Team Copilot addresses this challenge by reducing clinician charting time by 50%, saving hospitalists 90 minutes per inpatient stay on documentation, shortening average length of stay by 12–16%, and standardizing multidisciplinary rounds.

Key features include contextual chart summarization and embedded decision support tailored to the user’s role and specialty, surfacing relevant data alongside AI-generated summaries for the hospital course, assessment, and plan. Integrated content from UpToDate—including Clinical Pathways, Calculators, and Lab Interpretations prefilled with patient data—guides treatment decisions. The AI-assisted discharge planning provides dashboards with length-of-stay metrics, alerts for patients due or ready for discharge, and clear visibility into discharge dispositions. Additionally, AI-generated inpatient documentation drafts hospital course notes, assessment and plans, and discharge summaries based on the entire patient chart, enabling more natural, efficient workflows.

Craig Limoli, Wellsheet’s CEO and cofounder, described the Care Team Copilot as “like having another member of your care team continuously reviewing the entire patient chart, recommending care pathways, and drafting your documentation for you.” He added, “We’re thrilled to deliver the first care team copilot that facilitates multidisciplinary care at enterprise scale, ensuring that every clinician can reap the benefits of the latest advancements in AI-enabled clinical workflows.”
