What’s Making Headlines in Digital Health?

Highmark, Google, League Partner to Launch New Digital Health Platform

Highmark Health, Google Cloud and League are partnering to launch a new digital health platform for Highmark Health’s members.

The new platform combines Highmark Health’s strategy, Google Cloud’s data and League’s user experience expertise. League designs solutions for payers, providers, consumer health partners and employers that are meant to increase engagement among users.

The new platform is a “digital front door” for members, ‘offered on the web and through the My Highmark app. It will help members with scheduling appointments, accessing primary care and urgent care, managing prescription drugs and other services’.

The companies made the announcement at a press meeting during the HLTH conference in Las Vegas. The platform is expected to roll out in January 2023.

Teva Announces Unique Collaboration with HealthSnap to Expand the Reach of its Respiratory Digital Health Platform

Teva Pharmaceuticals has announced a new partnership with HealthSnap, a Virtual Care Management Platform for chronic disease management.

The collaboration will enable healthcare providers to better integrate patient data into their workflows, supporting proactive remote care across large populations. It will also help more consumers to have access to Teva’s Digihaler® system, which is a digital health platform designed to enable patients to have more informed treatment discussions with their healthcare providers through personalized care.

The platform can be used to ‘monitor and manage large populations by a network of health systems. It can capture objective and actionable data for asthma patients, thereby creating the mechanism for personalized care’.

Alphabet's Verily, ResMed launch sleep platform Primasun

Formed as a joint venture between San Diego-based connected sleep device maker ResMed and Alphabet’s life science company Verily, Primasun will initially analyse patients with insomnia, provide guidance to improve sleep hygiene and connect patients with certified sleep physicians who diagnose and treat sleep apnea.

Primasun is an end-to-end solution to help employers and healthcare providers identify populations at risk for complex sleep disorders.

Carlos M. Nunez, M.D., chief medical officer of ResMed and Primasun board member, said in a statement, "The clinical proof is clear: Diagnosing and treating sleep disorders can help people live healthier and longer, be safer and more present in their work and personal lives, and lower their healthcare costs. We're thrilled to see Primasun generate greater awareness about the importance of sleep and help pave more equitable pathways for people to optimize their sleep and overall health."
