Healthcare marketplace, Zocdoc has announced it is adding Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) to its marketplace, improving access for patients on Medicare and Medicaid.
Zocdoc offers online services allowing patients to find and book in-network providers for in-person or virtual appointments for medical or dental care, via its website or app.
FQHCs are primary healthcare clinics that focus on underserved communities, providing services on a sliding pay scale based on the patient's ability to pay. Patients are now able to book appointments with FQHCs that are working with Zocdoc, based on location and speciality.
Spring Bank Community Health Center in Texas is one of Zocdoc’s FQHC pilot clients. An earlier pilot client, La Casa de Salud, offers bilingual primary care and behavioural health services to patients throughout the Bronx, New York, regardless of their ability to pay. Zocdoc has long served this patient population, last year alone 15% of bookings on the platform were made by a federally funded beneficiary.
Zocdoc is working to add more FQHCs to its marketplace, by offering its services at a 50% discount. The company charges a fee to providers for new bookings made through the platform, for FQHCs the fee would range from $20-$55 depending on the speciality.
“Our goal is to bring more FQHCs onto Zocdoc’s marketplace to further accelerate access to high quality, affordable care for the patients and communities that need it most,” Dr. Oliver Kharraz, CEO and founder of Zocdoc.
