She is the woman who invented the first home pregnancy test, but many people have not heard her name. Meet Margaret Crane.
Historically, women were often not the first people to find out if they were pregnant after their test at the doctors – clinicians and sometimes their husbands were likely to know the results before them. Seeking greater privacy and independence for women, Margaret Crane decided to create the prototype for the first home pregnancy test in 1967, setting in motion a series of events that helped provide the home pregnancy test for women today.
