


In the US, gender- and race- based inequities pose rising health risks for women as they age. Elderly women are more likely to be widowed, live alone, suffer from food insecurity and experience higher medical costs and out-of-pocket spending for health services. Further, with the impact of gender pay gaps and unpaid labor accumulating over decades, women suffer higher wage losses as they age compared to men.
