Melbourne-based startup Kismet has secured $8.2 million in seed funding from a round led by tech investors Prosus Ventures and Airtree Ventures. Founded in 2023, Kismet has developed a community engagement ecosystem connecting care receivers, caregivers, health insurance, and healthcare providers in the in-home, disabled, and aged segments globally. Its web and mobile-based platform, Kismet Participant, organises healthcare providers into categories, allowing users to match services with individual insurance benefits or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans. The startup plans to use the funds to expand its team, enhance its global presence, and improve worldwide health engagement.
Kismet's initial mission was to address fraud and non-compliance in the disability and aged care sectors, with a focus on improving service access. With a specific emphasis on the NDIS, which has faced misuse concerns, Kismet aims to scale its technology globally to assist millions in accessing needed care. In its first year, the startup has provided caregivers with access to over 35,000 providers and support coordinators. The funding round brings Kismet's total raised capital to $10.8 million, marking a significant milestone in its goal to democratise healthcare access on a global scale.
