Abbott and Google have entered a multiyear partnership to integrate glucose data from Abbott’s Lingo sensor with Google’s consumer health technology and artificial intelligence capabilities. The companies aim to make metabolic health information easier for consumers to interpret and use in their daily routines.
Abbott plans to introduce Lingo integrations with the Google Health app later in 2026. Lingo, which launched over the counter in the U.S. in 2024, is designed for adults who do not take insulin. The sensor provides glucose readings intended to help users understand how factors including food, exercise and other daily habits affect their blood sugar levels.
Under the partnership, Abbott will connect glucose insights generated by Lingo with Google Health. Users with a Google Health premium subscription will be able to incorporate these insights into Google’s AI-powered health coach, which will use the information to provide recommendations intended to support healthier habits.
The collaboration is focused partly on helping consumers identify connections between everyday behaviors and metabolic health. The companies expect the integration to support more informed actions that could help slow the progression of metabolic health conditions.
Abbott and Google also plan to conduct a large real-world study examining metabolic health. The research will combine continuous glucose measurements with wearable, laboratory and survey data to investigate relationships between activity, sleep, well-being and metabolic health. Abbott has not disclosed the planned number of participants.
Findings from the study could be used to inform Google’s AI health coaching capabilities, support more personalized guidance and contribute to future development of Abbott’s Lingo platform.
The partnership comes as diabetes technology companies increasingly explore connections between glucose monitoring, digital health tools and AI. Dexcom, one of Abbott’s competitors in glucose monitoring, is participating in a U.S. Food and Drug Administration pilot program testing an AI-enabled glucose health program designed to help users improve glycemic control and reduce blood sugar levels.
For Abbott and Google, the collaboration extends consumer glucose monitoring beyond displaying measurements toward integrating those readings with broader health and behavioral data.
