Amazon's One Medical Loses Major Client as Google Opts for Premise Health

Google has decided not to renew its enterprise agreement with One Medical, a primary healthcare provider acquired by Amazon, after this year. This marks the end of a long-standing partnership that offered discounted healthcare services to Google employees. Instead, Google will transition its on-campus healthcare services to Premise Health.

This change occurs despite Amazon’s $3.9 billion acquisition of One Medical last year. Google was a significant client for One Medical, accounting for 10% of its net revenue until 2020. However, this percentage dropped below 10% in 2021, and further financial details became unavailable post-acquisition.

Amazon has implemented various cost-cutting measures since acquiring One Medical, including layoffs and discontinuation of services like Amazon Care and the Halo fitness tracker. Nevertheless, a Google spokesperson confirmed that the decision to end the partnership was not influenced by Amazon's takeover. Google's campuses already feature Premise Health-operated centers, offering a broader range of services.

Although the direct agreement with One Medical will end, Google employees can still access One Medical services as an in-network provider under Google's health insurance. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that Google employees and their dependents would continue to have their One Medical memberships sponsored by Google through the end of the year.
