Angle Health has announced a $600 million equity financing transaction at a $2.7 billion valuation as it looks to accelerate the growth of its AI-powered health benefits platform for small and midsize businesses. The financing was led by Vitruvian Partners, with participation from Town Hall Ventures and existing investors including Blumberg Capital, Portage Ventures, PruVen Capital and Y Combinator.
The transaction includes $200 million in Series C funding that will go directly to Angle Health and a $400 million tender offer providing liquidity to existing investors and employees. The company plans to use the new capital to expand national distribution, deepen integrations with healthcare providers and further develop its AI-powered underwriting and benefits infrastructure.
Angle currently serves more than 5,000 employer groups across 47 states, offering customizable health plans to businesses with as few as two employees. The company manages nearly $1 billion in annualized premium-equivalents and says revenue has increased 120% year over year. It has also reported four consecutive quarters of both EBITDA and GAAP net income profitability.
A central component of Angle's model is using technology to automate processes that traditionally require significant manual work from insurers and brokers. Its Benefit Builder and Quote-to-Card tools can use employer census information to generate underwritten health plan proposals within minutes and rapidly onboard groups and issue digital insurance cards. The company aims to make purchasing and administering employee health coverage significantly faster for smaller businesses.
Angle also uses automated care navigation and partnerships with healthcare providers to manage spending in areas such as specialty medications, home infusions, imaging and ambulatory surgery. The company says this approach has helped keep median annual renewal increases between 5% and 7%, compared with significantly higher increases across the broader small-business insurance market.
Unlike several earlier insurtech companies that focused heavily on individual insurance or Medicare Advantage, Angle has concentrated on employer-sponsored small-group coverage. By combining health plan administration, level-funded arrangements, telehealth and AI-powered navigation, the company aims to provide smaller employers with an integrated alternative to managing multiple healthcare benefits vendors.
