Atropos Health and Health Universe have announced a partnership to integrate real-world evidence and clinical decision-support capabilities into Health Universe’s AI healthcare workflow platform. The collaboration will give clinical organizations using Health Universe access to Atropos Health’s data and analytics within existing workflows.
Atropos Health applies AI to clinical and real-world patient data to help clinicians, health systems and life sciences organizations address clinical questions. Health Universe provides infrastructure for healthcare organizations to deploy and operate AI agents and workflows using clinical data.
Health Universe consolidates patient medical records from sources including electronic health records and national health information networks to create longitudinal patient records using AI. Its agents can then use these records for tasks such as summarizing patient histories, identifying potential clinical trial matches and preparing clinicians ahead of patient visits.
Under the partnership, Atropos Health’s real-world evidence and clinical decision-support tools will be embedded into this environment. The companies aim to enable clinicians to obtain patient-specific responses to clinical questions without moving outside their established workflows.
Dr. Doug Fridsma, chief medical and science officer at Health Universe, said healthcare’s experience implementing earlier digital technologies offers lessons for AI adoption. “With Meaningful Use, we focused on adoption before we truly understood how these systems work together – we didn't build evaluation and trust into the basic infrastructure, and AI is on a similar path.”
Fridsma added: “As clinicians face an overwhelming volume of clinical information, they need trusted infrastructure that delivers transparent, evidence-based insights within their workflows. Bringing Atropos Health into a governed environment, where you can actually see what an agent is doing, is what being AI-ready looks like.”
The agreement builds on both companies’ recent expansion. Health Universe previously raised $6 million in seed financing, bringing its total funding to $9.5 million, with plans to expand its workforce, sales activities and integrations in oncology and clinical research.
Atropos Health, meanwhile, has established collaborations with organizations including Novartis, Databricks, Ontada, Emory Healthcare, xCures, Merck and Microsoft Teams. Its broader strategy has focused on making real-world evidence and patient-specific insights accessible within healthcare and life sciences workflows.
