Autism care startup Cortica secures a further $75M in funding

Hybrid care provider Cortica, a company that develops initiatives for individuals with autism, has announced the procurement of $75 million in a financing round led by Deerfield Management and Optum Ventures. This isn’t the first round of funding Cortica has secured in recent years, having received $60 million in financing in 2021.

Cortica offers in-person and virtual diagnostic services as well as behavioural and developmental therapies for children with autism and other neurodiverse conditions.

They have also recently acquired two companies that work with children with disabilities; Springtide Child Development, an interdisciplinary practice with telehealth capabilities, and Melmed Center, a research group and developmental paediatric clinic based in Arizona, with 23 centres across the U.S.

Dr Neil Hattangadi, cofounder and CEO of Cortica said, “We've been very impressed with Springtide's product and clinical quality. Our combination brings together two leaders in whole-child autism care and enables us to extend Cortica's medical model to Springtide's centres.”

In September 2022, Cortica announced a partnership with health and wellbeing organisation Point32Health. A company offering tools to help analyse outcomes data on applied behaviour analysis, helping those with autism and similar disorders to improve communication, social and learning skills.
