Carenet Health Acquires Invene to Scale Agentic AI for Major Payers

Carenet Health has acquired Invene, a healthcare-focused AI and data engineering consulting firm, to expand its capabilities in enterprise agentic AI and healthcare workflow automation. The acquisition marks Carenet's 12th corporate transaction and follows its recent purchase of conversational AI company Orbita, strengthening its strategy to combine patient engagement, clinical operations and AI-driven technology infrastructure.

Founded in 2018, Invene specializes in healthcare software development, data architecture, interoperability and AI implementation. The company has worked with 20 Fortune 100 organizations, alongside major health plans, hospital systems, electronic health record vendors and digital health companies. Its expertise includes FHIR-based data integration, predictive analytics and agentic AI workflows designed for complex healthcare environments.

The acquisition will allow Carenet to combine Invene's technical engineering capabilities with its existing Intelligent Engagement platform and clinical navigation services. By connecting AI-powered patient interactions with data from EHRs, payer claims systems and practice management platforms, the companies aim to automate more complex healthcare workflows rather than limiting AI to basic conversational assistance.

Invene will continue operating as an independent division within Carenet Health, with founder James Griffin serving as its president. The company will maintain its existing customer relationships while also supporting Carenet's enterprise payer and provider clients. This structure is intended to combine Invene's specialized engineering expertise with Carenet's operational scale and healthcare delivery infrastructure.

Together with the Orbita acquisition, the deal positions Carenet to offer a more comprehensive AI implementation model, spanning strategy, software development, data integration and ongoing workflow management. The company aims to help healthcare organizations move beyond isolated AI pilots toward scalable production systems that can automate administrative and clinical processes while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
