Ellipsis Health, a San Francisco-based developer of AI-powered voice technology, has acquired Kouper Health, a New York-based provider of AI-enabled care navigation solutions for health systems and provider organizations. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The acquisition will combine Ellipsis Health's conversational AI capabilities with Kouper Health's electronic health record (EHR) integrations and longitudinal patient intelligence platform, supporting more coordinated patient engagement and care management.
Ellipsis Health's AI voice agent, Sage, uses vocal biomarkers to identify potential mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression. Operating through telephone and text-based interactions, Sage supports medication adherence, clinical assessments, patient enrollment, and post-discharge follow-up.
Kouper Health's technology integrates AI agents directly into healthcare workflows and consolidates information from emergency departments, inpatient facilities, and urgent care settings. Its longitudinal patient maps provide care teams with visibility into patients' healthcare interactions over time, supporting coordination across different clinical environments.
Following the acquisition, Sage will be integrated with Kouper's EHR connectivity and patient intelligence infrastructure, enabling AI-supported interactions to incorporate broader clinical context.

The transaction follows Ellipsis Health's March 2026 partnership with patient engagement platform PromptWell, which focused on increasing enrollment in patient care programs.
Ellipsis Health has also previously collaborated with Cigna International to develop the Cigna StressWaves Test, a voice-based stress assessment tool using algorithms trained on data from more than 15,000 adults.
The acquisition reflects growing efforts to integrate conversational AI with clinical data infrastructure, potentially enabling healthcare organizations to automate routine engagement activities while maintaining continuity across patient care journeys.
