Oracle Health and ID.me have announced a collaboration to integrate digital identity verification into Oracle Health solutions, aiming to simplify patient registration and strengthen provider credentialing for electronic prescribing of controlled substances. The partnership will bring ID.me's reusable digital identity technology into Oracle's healthcare ecosystem to support more secure access to health information while reducing repetitive administrative processes.
For patients, the integration will allow individuals to verify their identity digitally before or during check-in and select which health records they want to share with healthcare organizations. By reusing a verified digital identity, patients could avoid repeatedly completing the same registration and identity verification processes when accessing care, helping streamline intake and arrival workflows for both patients and administrative teams.
The collaboration also addresses provider identity verification for electronic prescriptions of controlled substances (EPCS). Oracle Health customers will be able to use ID.me to verify the identities and professional credentials of clinicians authorized to prescribe controlled medications. ID.me currently has nearly five million medical professionals within its network, with its EPCS credentialing technology already used by more than 100,000 prescribers nationwide.
Oracle Health sees verified digital identity as an important component of healthcare interoperability. Reliable identity verification can help ensure that patient information is accurately connected to the correct individual while enabling patients to maintain greater control over which records they share with healthcare providers.
