Proscia to Expand Pathology AI Capabilities with Virtual Staining

Proscia®, a pathology AI company, is introducing virtual staining in its Concentriq® software platform to help laboratories reduce costs, streamline workflows, and accelerate the transition from research to clinical practice. The technology, powered by Pictor Labs, uses AI to generate H&E, IHC, and special stains in minutes, eliminating the need for chemical reagents and re-cuts while turning scarce tissue into more valuable samples.

Conventional staining is a critical but time-consuming and costly process, often resulting in tissue loss and inconsistent results. By contrast, virtual staining applies AI models to label-free images to replicate the effects of stains quickly and reproducibly, creating whole-slide images that can be reviewed in minutes instead of hours or days. This approach expands diagnostic possibilities, offering faster, more sustainable access to advanced techniques while opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and multiplex assay development.

By integrating a broad menu of stains directly into Concentriq, Proscia will enhance the workflows already relied on by more than 12,000 pathologists and scientists worldwide, further strengthening the platform’s precision medicine AI portfolio. Alongside the launch, Pictor Labs will join the Proscia Ready partner alliance, a network of solution providers committed to accelerating adoption of digital pathology through a comprehensive and scalable approach.
