Zocdoc has partnered with Google to become the Gemini app’s first health appointments connected apps partner, enabling eligible users to search for healthcare providers and complete appointment bookings directly within Gemini.
The integration is available to U.S. users aged 18 and older and connects Gemini with Zocdoc’s healthcare marketplace. Patients can use natural-language queries to describe their care needs, review real-time provider availability and book either in-person or virtual appointments without leaving the conversational interface.
The partnership is intended to connect AI-supported health searches more directly with access to clinical care. Patients using AI tools for health-related questions have typically needed to move to external directories, provider portals or telephone scheduling systems to arrange an appointment after obtaining information.
Through the integration, Gemini users gain access to Zocdoc’s network, which includes more than 200,000 healthcare providers across over 200 clinical specialties and supports more than 10,000 insurance plans. Providers already listed on Zocdoc are automatically eligible to appear through the Gemini integration without requiring additional software implementation or IT work.
Zocdoc said appointments made through its platform typically connect patients with care within 24 to 72 hours. By comparison, the national average wait time for a physician appointment exceeds 31 days. The Gemini integration uses real-time clinical calendar availability to connect users with open appointment slots.
“Patients are increasingly starting their health journeys with AI, and this collaboration makes it easier for Gemini app users to find the care that they need, when they need it,” said Oliver Kharraz, MD, Founder and CEO of Zocdoc. “We are proud to partner with Gemini as Zocdoc begins to power access to care everywhere.”
The collaboration reflects a broader development in generative AI applications, moving beyond information retrieval toward transactional healthcare functions. For Zocdoc and Google, the integration links conversational health inquiries with provider discovery, insurance information, appointment availability and scheduling within a single interface, reducing the number of separate steps patients must navigate when seeking care.
