Zocdoc has announced a partnership with Instinct to integrate real-time healthcare appointment booking into Instinct's AI-powered assistant. The collaboration will allow users to find and schedule medical appointments through conversational interactions, without navigating multiple provider directories, websites or traditional booking systems. The integration is expected to roll out in the coming weeks.
Through a direct connection to Zocdoc's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, Instinct's AI agents will be able to search for healthcare providers, verify appointment availability and complete bookings on behalf of users. Zocdoc's infrastructure will help ensure that providers are legitimate, accept the patient's insurance and have available appointments, with bookings confirmed directly in their scheduling systems.
The partnership addresses a major challenge for AI-powered healthcare navigation: the fragmentation of provider information across insurance networks, electronic health records and scheduling platforms. While AI assistants can help patients identify potential care options, completing an appointment reliably requires access to verified provider data and real-time scheduling systems. Zocdoc aims to provide that infrastructure, allowing AI agents to move beyond recommendations and complete the booking process.
Zocdoc's network currently includes more than 200,000 verified healthcare providers, over 10,000 insurance plans and more than 175 scheduling integrations. According to the company, patients using its platform typically secure appointments within 24 to 72 hours, compared with a national average physician appointment wait time exceeding 31 days. Zocdoc also reports that traffic originating from AI agents has been doubling approximately every 10 days since early September.
The collaboration is part of Zocdoc's broader strategy to evolve from a standalone healthcare marketplace into an infrastructure provider that powers appointment booking across third-party platforms. Instinct joins its growing Care Access Network, which includes Google Gemini, Amazon Health AI, Yelp, Healthgrades and Blue Shield of California. By making verified appointment availability accessible to AI agents, Zocdoc aims to simplify how patients discover and access healthcare services.
