RxHealing, OpenLoop and Tenovi Launch Nationwide Pharmacy-Driven Remote Patient Monitoring Program

RxHealing, OpenLoop and Tenovi have announced a nationwide pharmacy-driven remote patient monitoring (RPM) program aimed at helping independent pharmacies play a larger role in supporting patients with chronic conditions between scheduled healthcare visits.

The initiative brings together community pharmacy engagement, virtual clinical operations and connected health technology. Under the model, pharmacists will identify patients who may benefit from remote monitoring services, while OpenLoop will provide clinical oversight, compliance support and billing infrastructure. Tenovi will supply cellular-connected monitoring devices and data aggregation technology that transmit patient health information directly from patients’ homes to care teams.

The program’s first phase is focused on hypertension management among Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) patients. Participating pharmacies will identify eligible individuals with hypertension diagnoses and equip them with remote monitoring tools designed to create a continuous flow of health data. The companies said this approach is intended to enable earlier clinical intervention and support better chronic disease management.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Jon Lensing, cofounder and CEO of OpenLoop, said, "Pharmacists already know which patients are struggling between visits. What's been missing is the clinical infrastructure to act on it: the oversight, the billing, the compliance backbone."

He added, "That’s why OpenLoop joined this initiative — independent pharmacies are an underused entry point for chronic care, and this is a real mechanism to change that."

RxHealing CEO Eric Lankford emphasized the role of pharmacies in extending care beyond traditional dispensing services. "This partnership represents an important step forward in making connected care more accessible, scalable and patient-centered," Lankford said. "By combining the strengths of RxHealing, OpenLoop and Tenovi, we are helping pharmacies extend care beyond the counter and into patients' everyday lives."

Tenovi’s technology platform includes cellular-connected monitoring devices and a gateway capable of integrating with more than 50 remote medical devices. According to the company, the system automatically transmits home-based health measurements to clinical teams and incorporates visual reminders to encourage patient adherence.

"Our goal at Tenovi is to simplify remote care," said Brandon Haag, vice president of sales for PBM, payer and pharmacy at Tenovi. "By pairing our 'high-tech' cellular devices with the 'high-touch' relationships of community pharmacists, we are bridging a critical gap for rural patients who live miles from standard care."

The launch reflects a broader trend of independent pharmacies expanding clinical services beyond prescription dispensing. Industry data indicate growing adoption of immunizations, medication therapy management and blood pressure monitoring services. The companies also point to continuing pharmacy access gaps in rural and underserved communities, where community-based RPM programs may provide additional support for chronic disease management. Preliminary research presented at the American Heart Association’s 2024 Hypertension Scientific Sessions further suggested that combining pharmacist engagement with remote blood pressure monitoring may help improve hypertension control, although those findings remain subject to peer-reviewed publication.
