Vitality and Google Expand AI-Powered Health Platform into U.S. Market

Vitality is expanding its Google-powered health platform into the United States, offering employers and health plans an AI-based system designed to encourage preventive care and healthier behaviors through personalized recommendations, coaching and incentives.

Vitality AI runs on Google Cloud and uses Gemini Enterprise and Google’s Gemini models alongside Vitality’s dataset covering more than 2,800 health and behavioral dimensions. The platform evaluates each member’s health profile, lifestyle and risk factors to identify a personalized “next best action,” such as completing a screening or health assessment.

Vitality reports that more than 210,000 U.S. individuals have received an AI-generated health action since June 2025, with 54% completing at least one recommended action. The company is positioning the technology for the fragmented U.S. employer benefits and payer environment.

“By combining behavioral, clinical and actuarial data with AI technology from Google, our platform can identify the highly personalized, achievable 'next best action' most likely to improve an individual's health and motivate sustained engagement,” said Maia Surmova, CEO of Vitality U.S.

The platform adjusts the timing, framing and context of communications based on individual motivations and barriers, while localized incentives are intended to encourage members to act. Vitality said it uses continuous randomized controlled trials to distinguish the effects of AI-driven personalization from financial and other incentives.

“The platform understands people are motivated by different factors, respond to different messages and face different barriers,” Surmova said. “We tailor the context, framing and timing to help individuals understand why a recommendation matters to them.”

Vitality said members retain control of their data and that the platform applies security, governance and compliance standards focused on fairness, transparency and choice.

The U.S. expansion follows several acquisitions intended to broaden Vitality’s capabilities. Earlier this month, the company acquired Icario, adding payer-focused tools for closing care gaps, care-management enrollment and Medicare Star Ratings. It acquired Ramp Health in March, adding digital health, coaching, onsite clinical and workplace-safety services, following its 2024 acquisition of WellSpark and its virtual coaching and disease-prevention capabilities.
